My story
started 7 years ago. I was about to start college and I was so confused about
which major I should pick. One of my sisters
suggested visiting a person who helps you to know your talent and discover
yourself. I decided to go. We spent so much time trying to figure out what I
really love. In the end, he told me that my talent was to be a marketer, the
person who plans the marketing strategy and provides creative ideas to
campaigns. At the same time, I got a scholarship to study a STEM field in the
US. I was confused back and it was hard to decide If I should leave the
scholarship or study marketing to pursue a marketing career. I decided that I
want to go and see the world so I picked Computer Engineering as my major and
traveled to the US. I was able to finish my undergraduate degree with a GPA of
3.5/4 but I wasn’t happy. I felt Computer Engineering wasn’t my passion and I
didn’t enjoy myself during learning about electronics and algorithms. After
finishing my degree, I moved back to Egypt. During my job searching for
Software Engineering jobs, I came to the realization that I’m not passionate
about this career but I had to find a job to earn money for a living. I found a
very good job in software engineering that I like but I always felt something
was missing but I was always asking myself if I should continue working in
software engineering or follow my passion. One day, I was just scrolling on
Facebook. I saw the post for the Egypt Forward scholarship and how they provide
opportunities to provide a Nano degree in social media marketing and help you
to find freelancing gigs. I was so excited I applied immediately and I enrolled
in the class. I was so enthusiastic about learning each and every lesson
on this degree because I finally found my passion. I can’t wait to build a
successful career and strong profile in marketing.
